Alto Vista Winery: A Vineyard Flourishing in the Desert

Established in 2019 by local entrepreneur David Kock, Alto Vista Winery has defied the odds by cultivating grapevines in Aruba's challenging desert climate. Through innovative techniques and sustainable practices, the winery produces a selection of handcrafted wines, including French Colombard, Chenin Blanc, Syrah, and Tempranillo. Each bottle reflects the island's unique terroir, offering visitors a taste of Aruba's dedication to quality and craftsmanship. 

Introducing Red Star Rum

Expanding beyond wine, Alto Vista Winery also distills its own rum, aptly named Red Star Rum in homage to the red star on Aruba's flag. Crafted from locally grown sugarcane, this rum embodies the island's spirit and commitment to producing authentic, high-quality spirits.

The Tour Experience

Visitors can embark on a guided tour that lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, priced at $39 per person. The journey begins with a walk through the vineyard, offering insights into the grape cultivation process amidst the island's natural beauty. The tour continues to the rum distillery, where guests learn about the rum-making process and sample the refreshing Strea cocktail. The experience culminates in the tasting room, where visitors can savor five different wines, each paired with a curated cheese platter, providing a comprehensive taste of Aruba's local flavors. 

Scenic Views and Relaxation

Situated near the iconic Alto Vista Chapel, the winery offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Guests are encouraged to unwind on the outdoor deck, open from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, and enjoy a glass of wine or rum while soaking in the serene ambiance.
